About the Neighborhood

Feasterville-Trevose sits within Lower Southampton Township as a suburban community with roots stretching to 1683, when William Penn purchased this land from the Lenni Lenape. The township was established in 1703 and split into Upper and Lower Southampton in 1928.

Two founding families shaped the community's identity. Feasterville was named for Aaron Feaster in 1772, grandson of Dutch settler John Feaster who emigrated from Holland around 1730. The historic Buck Hotel once served as a stage stop at the intersection of Bustleton Pike and Bridgetown Pike. Trevose takes its name from the Growden Mansion, homestead of settler Joseph Growden, derived from his ancestral home in Cornwall, England. The Cornish word "Trenfos" means "farm."

Lincoln Highway (US-1) and Street Road (PA-132) form the commercial corridors. Bustleton Pike runs north-south through the community's center. Residential neighborhoods include Feasterville, Trevose, Trevose Heights, Neshaminy Falls, and Oakford. Playwicki Farm, known as "The Jewel of Lower Southampton Township," preserves 110 acres of historic farmland for trails, organic farming, and community gatherings. The Sotcher Farmhouse sits on the property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977.
